To attend class, all patients must be registered. If class is cancelled or rescheduled, you will be notified using the information provided during registration. Also remember that class space is limited.

 

Prenatal Yoga & Pilates

Mindful movement, including Yoga & Pilates principals empower a woman to awaken herself physically, emotionally and spiritually as she prepares for labor & birth, embracing her role as a mother.  Taught by Certified Nurse Midwife Colleen Brezine, Kim Andrews, RN and Deb Koniaryzck, RN. Each session will be conducted in a calm, peaceful environment to help strengthen the uterus and pelvic muscles, improve circulation, aid in digestion, exercise the spine and increase overall comfort. Breath work and meditation techniques will also be taught to instill a feeling of trust in one's own inner wisdom during this time of change. This class is offered to prenatal moms and supports women in all stages of pregnancy.  No prior experience is necessary. Please bring yoga mat, towel & water.

Postnatal Pilates

Instructed by Deb Koniaryzck, RN, this class will focus on developing an awareness and trust in the changes that have occurred in your body and how to recover your pelvic positioning following labor & birth.  Each session will use Pilates Postpartum principals in a calm, peaceful environment to help mom strengthen her body both inside and out, maintain flexibility in the entire body and use total body integration to allow the body to regain it’s balance and alignment.  Breathing, focus and the ability to relax and release will instill a feeling of trust in one's own inner wisdom as you prepare for your new role as a mother.  This class is offered to postnatal moms and requires clearance from your prenatal provider.  No prior experience is necessary. Please bring yoga mat, towel & water.

Community Yoga

This class can be a great way to start your morning! Class is taught in a certified yoga instructor. We believe that yoga should be accessible to everyone in the community.  It is open to all levels of students offering stillness, subtle flow and strength. This class will be great for shifting any stagnant energy and will provide a more calm and productive day.  No prior yoga experience is necessary. Please bring mat, towel & water.

Holistic Birth Options

Westshore Midwifery Associates, Certified Nurse Midwives: Maureen Stein-Vavro, Erin Callahan & Colleen Zelonis will present this orientation. This class will cover a variety of birthing options including an introduction to our “Holistic Birth Center” program, which will discuss the criteria for utilizing the birth center. We will share topics surrounding natural childbirth options, including the use of hydrotherapy during labor & birth, aromatherapy, therapeutic use of music and relaxation techniques in an effort to achieve a satisfying birth experience. During the class you also be introduced to the unique services offered by a midwife and a doula. This class is open to anyone interested in exploring childbirth options. A tour of the Holistic Birthing Center & Family Suites will complete the class. A light snack will be provided and registration is required.

Dancing For Birth

Feel great and prepare for the birth you want with dance! Learn how to work with gravity and movement to help become mentally and physically ready to embrace the birth experience. Class will be offered to both prenatal and postpartum moms. Please ring yoga mat, towel & water.

Avoiding a Cesarean Section

Westshore Midwifery Associates, Certified Nurse Midwives: Maureen Stein-Vavro, Erin Callahan and Colleen Zelonis will present this class. Whether you are a first time Mom or a Mom that has had a previous cesarean section or are merely considering a pregnancy this educational seminar is for you. With the national C/Section rate being over 30% some are calling this surgery an epidemic. Come explore ways to increase your likelihood of a vaginal delivery. This class is open to anyone interested in exploring childbirth options. A tour of the Holistic Birthing Center & Family Suites will complete the class. A light snack will be provided and registration is required.
